Jack Dorsey’s payments firm, Block, laid off 4,000 employees, explicitly linking the cuts to efficiency gains from its AI rollout in an X post. Dorsey called it “one of the hardest decisions” in his company’s history, but told shareholders he believes “the majority of companies will reach the same conclusion and make similar structural changes.”
